5 TRACKS:
To celebrate the upcoming Amsterdam Dance Event, we have picked 5 crowd-pleasing cuts to pack with you on your Dutch mission. We loved Mirko & Meex’s “A Jam” on Angelo Ferrari’s Monoside imprint and since then we’ve been waiting for a killer groove from them. And now we do. “Like This” is a hooky-as-hell house groove that should have fans of Qubiko (it has the same inspiration as “Mono Tono”) & Low Steppa jumping to play it. Honey Dijon’s Boiler Room set from Sugar Mountain in Australia certainly revived Stevie Wonder’s voice in a house set. Since then, “I Wish” (the acappella she mixed brilliantly with Harry Romero & Erick Morello’s “Bang”) has popped up in a few house tracks – notably Wade’s excellent “Back In The Days” on Sola. Today I have Italian duo Ernest & Frank taking inspiration from the same and re-vocalling “Superstitious” over an extremely DJ-friendly groove. My recent big tune partner in crime – Marco Anzalone – takes on Sam Dexter’s R&B rework “Tell Me” and wraps it up in a raw, loopy tech beat. One to check if you like a bit of Riva Starr. Elliot Fitch is a young dutch producer with releases on Toolroom & remixes for Orlando Voorn (amongst others) to his name. Here he delivers a tribal tech bomb that should please fans of Flashmob & Max Chapman. Rounding off this mini comp are the Giza DJs who, with their killer bassline groove “Intrigo”, show us why Solomon is such a fan of their tunes.
