‘Real Funky’ bounces from pirate radio rooftops directly in the glare of the sun, from the jumpy bassline shuffle featuring tongue in cheek couplets (including sound advice for screen fiends) from one of the UK’s most inimitable urban poets, to a grand introduction across the airwaves helped along by shiny disco guitars and a supersonic breakdown. ‘The Space’ is where it’s at for Cele and Soeiro to churn through and get funkily knotty and knottily funky with their bass-stepping beats – in fact there’s no space at all within the tightly packed dancefloor welcoming you to a jungle of clubbers soon to be wearing one another’s bruises.
