Dekmantel’s 10th anniversary series of 12″ singles continues to deliver far more hits than misses. Happily, there are plenty more on this seventh volume. Chief amongst them is Randomer’s brilliant “Foghorn”, a thrillingly trippy and floor-friendly fusion of snappy, lapsed techno breakbeats, horror movie chords and clandestine electronics. That’s not to say there aren’t fine moments elsewhere, of course. Props to Versatile Records man Gilb’r for continuing his obsession with humid rainforest textures, trippy chords and wonky African percussion on “The Triangle”, and to Tolouse Low Trax for the skewed Balearic synth-pop shuffle that is “Crash”. Vosiki’s clattering but poignant analogue opener “Time As A River” is pretty tasty, too.
