French label Daydream is focused on forceful, groovy house music exclusively on wax. Moreover, the imprint ambitiously seeks to offer an intelligent and efficient vision of house music and provide perfect DJ cuts. If this EP is any indication: they’re pretty onto it! This is deep and dubby late night house in the vein of Office, Oscillat or The Mountain People. The latter is certainly what A side cut “Sylex” by Barletta had us thinking about: now that’s a compliment! Sultry and hypnotic afterhours style biz with a heap of swing to boot. On the flip, fellow debutante Le Louche similarly impresses with something more uplifting in the form of “Crosswind”. Its skippy and immaculately programmed rhythms assisted by ethereal chords and dubby/delayed drenched aesthetics. Finally, we were pleased to get another serving by Luca Barletta: his sense of swing on the stripped back, late night sexiness of “Optix” is perfect mood lighting for those intimate Berlin style loft parties.
