The latest missive on Stockholm’s Born Free is a collaboration between two like-minded Swedes: label co-founder Samo DJ and Baba Stiltz. It’s not their first hook-up on the imprint, either, though it is the first since both producers’ profiles began to rise. The real killer is A-side “Kling Party”, a humid and intoxicating affair that’s as hypnotic as it is gently wayward. There are remarkably few elements involved – think gently undulating dream machine beats, echoing effects, dub style sub-bass and twinkling synthesizer motifs – but they come together so well that you hardly notice. Mind you, we wouldn’t have expected anything less.
